Three Tip ThursdayToday’s T3 includes tips for this year’s Amazon Prime Day, a contest for Trekkies, and car safety.

1. Amazon Prime Day 2017

Amazon Prime Day 2017In 2015, Amazon held its first-ever Prime Day event, offering exclusive deals for Prime members all day long. It was so successful they held the second-ever Prime Day last year, again with great results. So I’m sure you’re not going to be shocked when I tell you they’re doing it again this year. 🙂

They may need to rename the event, though, to Prime Day and a Quarter, since it’s running a full 30 hours this year, from 9pm EST on Monday, July 10, 2017 through 2:59am EST, Wednesday, July 12, 2017. And if you have an Alexa-enabled device (e.g. Echo, Echo Dot, Fire TV, Fire Tablet, etc.) you can get in on the savings two hours early and enjoy deals exclusively available through voice ordering.

But wait, there’s more! 🙂 Amazon is offering a bunch of additional promotions leading up to the big day, including big savings starting today on Kindle Unlimited memberships, a $10 Amazon credit when you sign up for a Prime Video free trial and stream a video on your TV for the first time, and discounts on Amazon Music Unlimited and Audible Gold subscriptions.

Remember, you must be a Prime member to take advantage of the savings. If you’re not one yet, you can sign up for a 30-day free trial and in addition to being eligible for the Prime Day deals, you’ll get to test-drive a whole bunch of other Prime benefits.

2. Star Trek Sweepstakes

On September 24, 2017, Star Trek: Discovery will premiere on CBS All Access, that network’s video streaming subscription service. To celebrate its new original series, the network is holding a sweepstakes that will send the winner and one guest to the Official Star Trek Convention in Las Vegas from August 2-8. The prize includes round-trip airfare, hotel accommodations for 6 nights, tickets for every day of the convention and $500 to spend while you’re there.

According to the sweepstakes page, “participants must be a registered cbs.com user, a legal resident of one of the 50 United States, at least 18 years old or age of majority, whichever is older in state of residence at the date of entry in the Sweepstakes.” The final day to submit your name for a chance to win this awesome prize is July 10th.

3. Car Escape Tool

We’re in major travel season right now, with a lot of that travel including fun road trips. And while I hope that everyone’s trips are free of adverse incidents, it’s always a good idea to be prepared for anything.

A lot of people have emergency kits in their cars, but those can only help you if you can get to them. Unfortunately, there may be times where you’re trapped in your car by your seatbelt or a malfunctioning window—for example, if your car lands in a body of water. If that happens, there’s a great little tool called ResQMe (say it out loud) that you can attach to your key ring with a blade for cutting the seat belt and a steel spike that can break a window when used in the right spot.

Travel safe, everyone!
